Despite facts in life, it’s always clear: Fear Porn will win the day

But the FBI is a bit perturbed about the reporting of the San Bernardino shootings..

This is the wording from reporter Erik Wemple at the WASHINGTON POST:

A whoa moment here: FBI Director James B. Comey today told the media that the suspected assailants in the San Bernardino, Calif., massacre — Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik — wrote private messages to each other stating support for jihad. However: “So far, in this investigation we have found no evidence of posting on social media by either of them at that period in time and thereafter reflecting their commitment to jihad or to martyrdom. I’ve seen some reporting on that, and that’s a garble,” Comey said at a media availability during an event in New York City.

Maybe you should read that again. “No evidence” of something Jihad related.. ISIS related..

The smoking gun to connect this to a bigger issue of terrorism seems to be weak at best.

But that never mattered.. fear always win. Doesn’t it?
Nothing to fear but fear itself? The same person who said that also set up internment camps that later would be viewed as repulsive.

Yes fear wins. Facts lose.

This is typically the week where Christmas and all associated with it really sets in. The mood is set by the changes of season, the dark nights being filled with lights, and the cold air making the face turn bitter. This year it’s warm–El Nino has caused a massive buildup of warm air and the chance for the East Coast to get 60s and 70s in temperatures on Christmas day. Remarkable.. Along with that, Donald Trump has breathed his fire to divide the nation. . it’s like a pop culture and ecological blowtorch has simultaneously been lit onto the entire nation..

We are strangely angry this year..
Talking heads on TV can’t keep their ‘stuff’ together.. Blowhards in all walks of life are decrying the immediate end times that they say will befall us all.

It’s a weird time.
After 9/11, regardless of plans to invade Iraq, cooler heads eventually prevailed and we rallied together instead of apart. They were isolated instances of hate… in the modern era, with a shooting that rattled the nation, that hate has seemingly increased. At this point a major presidential contender is talking about putting a certain group of people onto registration lists and deporting others after rounding them up, presumably house to house style?

Merry Christmas indeed.

But the facts!
Oh those silly facts…
Like the FBI stating that the San Bern shooters have yet to be tied–through evidence and proof–to assimilated groups of terrorism already existent in the Middle East.

Does ISIS want to destroy America? Yes.. Do sympathizers and sleeper cells exist? Yes.. Do we fear them? That is only a question you can answer in your own heart.

There are a number of reasons I started “Night Terror News” .. one of them was because, as the artistic rendering above this paragraph shows, I often felt that the media purposely acted like a monster. They lurk outside the security of your home screaming about the dangers on the other side of the window.. They are just trying to get your attention. Their ratings.. They are broadcasting the entire world of problems into your living room or onto your smart phone to do one thing: Get more clicks. More fear. More fear porn.

Do we have to fear them? No.. we have to fear fear.

Because lately fear is sure winning.

  1. and this is all playing into the hands of the terrorists, they’re counting on us to be afraid and refuse muslim refugees. On another note i just watched Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and yoda said something very wise “Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate and hate leads to suffering.”
