Saturday nights are ripe for violence: Pipe bombs, dumpster blasts, and mass stabbings

The big news of the weekend: Two bombings on the East Coast. No word yet as to whether they terroristic in nature or even connected, but they have quite as lot of people in New York and New Jersey on edge. There was also a noteworthy mass stabbing incident at a mall in Minnesota..

A pipe bomb exploded in a New Jersey shore town Saturday shortly before thousands of runners were to participate in a charity 5K race to benefit Marines and sailors, authorities said.No injuries were reported in the blast in Seaside Park around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s office. He said no surrounding structures were damaged.

Later Saturday night, 29 people in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood were injured after a bomb went off in a dumpster. The mayor spoke and called it intentional. Shortly after, another suspicious device was found nearby..

And finally, several people were injured and a suspect died Saturday night after a stabbing attack at a Minnesota mall, authorities say. St. Cloud Police Sgt. Jason Burke said multiple victims were taken to the hospital… Burke later confirmed that a suspect was killed and that his body was still inside the Crossroads Center mall. Burke said an undetermined number of people still remained inside the mall late Saturday, and that the investigation is ongoing.. That said, there are also reports that while the stabbings were occurring, references to Allah were being made..
