Each year, since the year 1999, I create a “year in review..” A momentary lapse in current events an a vain attempt to relive the past.. to reclaim the fleeting moments of the the previous 12 months of life.

I have been doing this since 1999….just about 20 years..
20 years of movies of the year..
Asses of the year..
People of the year..
news of the year..
events.. of the year.

And each year, as it ticks and tocks into the next, matters less and less.. Each year, as it passes, just becomes one of those glimpses of yesterday. A time that was. And that is no more…

This year it has been very, very difficult to put together a year in review.

There are a few reasons for that.. Firstly, in all honestly, I have been filled with hubris for almost 20 years. Who am I, really, to comment on people richer and more famous than me? Who am I to proclaim the mantle of intelligence worthy of saying what the biggest events and news of the previous year have been?
no one…
At all.

This year, personally, has been tumultuous.. filled with personal glories and mourning.. parents aging and falling, nursing homes and hospitals, brakes and tires catching on fire, and a series of events that caused humility to rise in my soul like fiery lava in a quake somewhere in a sea that causes tsunamis of pain…

There have been earthquakes in 2018. Political and environmental..

Donald Trump and his wall.. government shut downs.. school and other shootings.. weather disasters .. all in a 12 month wrap. All in a news cycle.

IN 2018, the news cycle seemed to be faster.. harsher.. What used to be a 24/7 news wash is now a 12 and 12.. what makes news this minute is gone the next.. what Donald Trump Tweets today is old news tomorrow.

We are floundering in a sea of technology and a course ride into hardcore storms of oceans’ tomorrows…

BLACK MIRROR is not fiction.. the future, being now, is starting to wreak havoc on the mindset of today…

Things moving so fast that we are not mentally or physically capable of dealing with the reeling..

Indeed, 2018 is a year of transition, one that maybe finally solidifies the wave of robotic futures, the wave of tomorrows filled with a transition into the true 5-G energized information super-duper-pooper-highway of sin and pain. Yes… 2018 brought us tomorrow….. and with it? … all of the pains of the 20th century we thought would go away…

There are no flying cars… there are no amphibious patrols of futuristic cities under the sea… there are no golden paths into riches and fortunes.

But we have the same emotions from then.. before Alexa.. before the NET at our fingertips. We are filled with the same rages and sages … the same pains and gripes.. bones still break and yes, yes… people still perish from the planet.

So what did 2018 give us? A whole lot crap!

The same as it was before.. the same as it will ever been.
….and about a zillion more Tweets than we needed.

Yes, indeed. That is who we are.. who we were..

Time is relentless.
Only true love perseveres..
It’s been now a long time I’m with you.
After 2000 (and 18) years..
