I will first say I was one of the biggest Andy Kaufman fans. . truly .. He was a genius and a master in his field–his genre was either wrestling, comedy, or …whatever he decided it would be..
There were stories circulating today that his brother said he was still alive, and that his death in 1984 was just a big hoax.. then came along a woman who said she was Kaufman’s daughter. I wrote about all of this twelve hours ago on here..
Just moments ago, I was followed by a Tumblr blog, http://blaikemeacake.tumblr.com. There is simply one post on this blog, and it concerns Kaufman. Here is the text in full from http://blaikemeacake.tumblr.com/:

My name is Blaikemeacake and I am here to anonymously debunk the Andy Kaufman rumors that he is living.
I was present at the Andy Kaufman awards this year. A relative of former Andy Kaufman Award alumni winner Kristen Schaal was picked to play Andy’s daughter from his alleged secret marriage.
First of all I must say that Micheal Kaufman and Kristen Schaal’s relative did think of a brilliantly clever story and execute the performance of that story with pure brilliance. However, I am a clairvoyant and could sense the hilarity of it all.
I must admit as a token to Andy’s memory, this clever hoax does do him justice. However after seeing my mother and several friends brought to complete hysterical tears I felt an obligation to reveal the truth:
Andy Kaufman did in fact die in 1984, but he lives on in spirit.
I do see him from time to time. Playing tricks on me. Urging me to say and do that thing that nobody expects. He told me about this hoax in order to reach his family.

I love a good hoax! Who doesn’t!
And with Andy Kaufman, quite possibly everything was a hoax.
And now this Tumblr blog comes along and follows me ….writing that the hoax is that the death was a hoax–but that “Blaikemeacake” sees Kaufman from time to time in some sort of a spirit realm.
I don’t know what is true, but I love this story–and I love this new blog.
The intensity of feelings that still stems from people when Kaufman’s name is mentioned amazes me. He provokes some laughs, some anger.. mostly confusion.
You never knew quite what was real. And with the ‘death’ or not-so-death stories circulating today, we still don’t know what is real… even if the put a man on the moon.
So world.. what’s your take. IS he alive? Is he dead? Is it stuck somewhere ….out there?
