There is new holiday trend on the way. Not family friendly flicks with aging stars, but Christmas horror with creepy paranormal entities. Kevin Smith is giving us Krampus. Even William Shatner is doing a scary December movie… More here on what to expect:http://m.hitfix.com/news/is-krampus-the-next-iconic-horror-movie-monster
I think it’s about time a new horror came around.. SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT is dated and boring…
Krampus though? That’s a subject that needed to be vetted .. I’m highly looking forward to seeing how Smith does it…
In my personal life, there has always been a little place special in my heart for the story of Krampus. When I was a grade schooler in a Catholic facility, we used to put our shoes outside the classroom in the hallway and listen for bells.. If there was candy in our shoes, we were going to get Santa’s gifts. I think all kids always had candy. It was only later in life that I realized the consequences if we didn’t get candy: Krampus would take us. That little tradition wasn’t explained, thankfully, to the group of kids awaiting the arrival of Christmas..
But in our changing society, one that seemingly has embraced the paranormal and strangeness more than any others in decades, Krampus is going to get a reboot.. The yearly celebration of him will perhaps be bigger .. and the notion of him as a demonic figure around Christmas will be in play.
Perhaps this year and future Christmas eves will have children losing the sugar plumb dreams and replacing them with an evil child-taking Krampus creeping outside their windows on the holy night..,
