Another entry into the ‘death of the coal region’ tag..
This is a pretty big deal, in my opinion.. it’s these events, parades and fireworks, that so often unite small towns with the Americana feel.
The coal region of Pennsylvania, dwindling in population but surging in drug problems and alcoholism, is leading to a rebirth of something much, much worse.
The fireworks are canceled.
The show is over.
All that remains?
A distant memory of thunder over Ashland…
