Harry Anderson, who starred on almost 200 episodes of “Night Court,” was reportedly found dead in his North Carolina and the relatively young age of 65.
Harry Anderson began his career with small roles on “Tales from the Darkside” and “The Dark Side” before breaking out on “Saturday Night Live” in the early 1980s.
But the Rhode Island native’s best known role came as Judge Harry Stone on “Night Court,” a role that earned him three Emmy nominations over the show’s nine-season run from 1984 to 1992.
Asheville police responded to Anderson’s home before 8 a.m. Monday, according to the local CBS station. Police do not suspect foul play.
And I love this reaction tonight:
“I loved this guy even though I had never met him,” tweeted Chris Hardwick. “Loved his comedy, his appearances on ‘SNL’ (when they still had stand-ups), and ‘Night Court’ is one of my all-time favorite sitcoms. I hope he is in some magical afterlife doing card tricks with Mel Tormé.”
