Joker film fears.. now broadcast journalists have been banned from the premiere

Warner Bros. Entertainment has restricted access for print and broadcast journalists from the red carpet at the upcoming U.S. premiere of “Joker.”

The event, which will take place today in Hollywood at the famous TCL Chinese Theatre, will now only allow photographers access to talent and filmmakers. Expected attendees include Joaquin Phoenix, director Todd Philips, and supporting stars..

Reporting from the Hollywood Reporter:

“Our red carpet is comprised of photographers only,” a studio spokesperson told Variety, “a lot has been said about ‘Joker,’ and we just feel it’s time for people to see the film.”..

Todd Phillips has publicly stated he was surprised by the the backlash to the long anticipated JOKER movie.. Phillips say the criticism has been “eye-opening.” “I think it’s because outrage is a commodity, I think it’s something that has been a commodity for a while,” he tells the Wrap. “What’s outstanding to me in this discourse in this movie is how easily the far left can sound like the far right when it suits their agenda.”
