The forgotten pandemic that put a president in a hospital

About a decade the Asian Flu of 1957, another strain was suddenly filling the world’s hospitals with patients.. This new pandemic was circling the nation just as 60s rebellion was.. just as Charles Manson’s ‘family’ was on a murderous path in Tinseltown.. just as the Vietnam War sliced the nation in half.. bras burned. Woodstock’s mud.. It would go on to kill over 100,000 Americans and even hospitalize an American president  ..  It was the dreaded Hong Kong Flu pandemic of 1968..

When you rewind time, you’ll fine that there is an another more unorthodox tradition every year at North Schuylkill..

Juniors, at the point a when the senior class graduates, take over the famed ‘rock’ at the top of the mountain that overlooks the school district.

Each year, newly appointed seniors trek up a somewhat dangerous incline to put their year on ‘the rock,’ the mantle of their final year of high school.. the symbol of their success.

The class of 2020… born in the aftermath of 9/11..  They were the first high school class to learn about 9/11 as a past event..

Sure there a were  a few stragglers that entered the planet prior to September 11, 2001, but for most of them, the world before the terror attacks would be alien.. just as alien as life before the great 2020 pandemic, which canceled their prom, graduation, and memories..
