The words of wisdom of Art Bell ion the 2017/18 flu season: Wear masks, don’t shake hands, and socially distance

Aren’t there days you really, really miss the voice of Art Bell?

He hosted Coast to Coast AM for years, and then went his own way on satellite radio, and the internet..

During trying times, such as 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina, he provided in depth talk radio as it should be..

He would be spot-on during our 2020 COVID crisis and fans wish he was still here.

Those may recall he passed away from this planet on Friday the 13th, April 2018.

Tonight, as the COVID-19 coronavirus death toll officially surpassed 61,000 Americans, it is a reminder of the last time so many Americans were hit hard by a virus. In the flu season of 2017/18, more than 80,000 American died during those deadly few months and 900,000 had to be hospitalized.. (Yes, real numbers)..

The CDC said that that period of time from late 17 through 2018 was the deadliest flu season since 1976..

While it may be unwise to compare the flu to COVID-19, it is interesting to consider what Art Bell was writing about that viral season only several weeks before he passed away..

On Facebook, he was updating his following of his family’s sicknesses.. His sickness.. His family’s ailments.. all while having a newborn son named Alexander..  Art bell wrote this on February 6, 2018:

FLU, it’s all over and it’s rough, my Daughter is wearing a mask in school everyday and washing hands all the time. This is serious stuff, protect yourself. If somebody wants to shake hand offer them a Japanese style bow instead. If your sick for God’s sake and your co-workers, stay home.

His words of wisdom of that deadly flu season could apply without doubt to our coronavirus plague of 2020.. His daughter was wearing a mask long before it was cool…

We really could use a dose of Art Bell logic right about now..

We miss him.
