Today has been an exceptionally disgusting today, hasn’t it?
We will not try to out-expert the experts on the major news networks–although one must ask if we really trust them. So many of them come from the military industrial complex.. so many agonize publicly about war but so often antagonize those in power that we need to go to battle.. The revolving door of military to news media made former journalists uncomfortable. Back in the old days of the 2000s.. now it’s just news rooms filled with press release writers. But we digress..
Sirens blared on the Drudge Report today … news networks went wall to wall .. Kabul suicide bombings had begun..
This was the original AP news dispatch:
The U.S. ambassador in Kabul has told staff there that four U.S. Marines were killed in an explosion at the city’s airport and three wounded, a U.S. official with knowledge of the briefing said. Two explosions ripped through crowds of Afghans trying to enter the airport on Thursday. At least three U.S. troops were injured, a U.S. official said. Witnesses reported multiple fatalities among the Afghans, many of whom were trying to enter the airport because they had assisted U.S.-led coalition efforts and feared persecution by the Taliban.
It got worse from there.. by the end of the day, America time, Joe Biden addressed a weary nation about 12 United States Marines that lost their lives in at least two attacks at the airport..
Also by day’s end, ISIS had claimed responsibility for the attacks. The final tally of horror: The terror group ISIS-K have claimed responsibility for the deadly double attack, the group’s Amaq News Agency said on its Telegram channel.
At a press conference late evening, President Joe Biden vowed on Thursday the United States would hunt down those responsible for twin explosions at the Kabul airport in Afghanistan and said he asked the Pentagon to develop plans to strike back at them… he slowly spoke, often trying to form sentences … at one point sparred with Fox News journalist Peter Doocey and put his head down in a showcase of frustration:
Biden went on to take some credit.. but blame some Trump..
He also took questions from people he was told to take questions from..
“I have also ordered my commanders to develop operational plans to strike ISIS-K assets, leadership and facilities. We will respond with force and precision at our time, at the place we choose and the moment of our choosing,” Biden said.Biden appeared to be fighting back tears and his voice cracked with emotion as he talked about the American “heroes” who died. “It’s been a tough day,” he said.
Women were warned to stay home…
TOUGH DAY HAD BY ALL
It was horrible.
There are no words that can make sense of it. Or the past 20 years.. no analyst paid for by the Pentagon and CNN on double payroll that could create a sense of reason..
We are leaving a chaotic scene after invading a chaotic nation.
No nation building occurred.. Poppy seeds were exported around the world in the form of heroin for the previous 20 years, destroying your neighborhood and mine.
Trillions were spent.
Tens of thousands of civilians were killed.
Thousands of American soldiers are dead and tens of thousands injured.
And today, 13 more are added to the sad death toll of lives lost.
It’s just horrible. Pathetic. Awful.. wasted money, wasted years.. wasted everything.
What was it for? ….
It can remind you of another war in the past when Uncle Sam got himself in a terrible jam in Vietnam.. Joe McDonald sang his famous anti war song at Woodstock in 1969:
MR. LEEDS WAS RIGHT
We often go back to Mr. Leeds .. he became an expert on war and life back in the 2000s during M Night Shyamalan’s LADY IN THE WATER. We have gotten to know him and written about him often, like this story back on August 15 of this year. Mr. Leeds wondered if Afghanistan could become the next Somalia.. at that time Biden was already hinting he knew he was set for a “brutal loss.”
That brutal loss has started…
Meanwhile.. some more brutal news is coming out.. General Kenneth McKenzie, commander of the United States Central Command, revealed an intelligence-sharing operation between the U.S. and Taliban on Thursday at a Department of Defense briefing, just hours after attacks at Hamid Karzai International Airport killed at least twelve U.S. service members and 60 Afghan civilians. According to McKenzie, the Taliban and U.S. share a “common purpose” of finishing the ongoing evacuation mission by August 31.
Critics were left dumbfounded, taking to social media to express their utter astonishment at the U.S. strategy to rescue American citizens and allies stuck in the region.”What?” CNN contributor Mary Katherine Ham wrote in response to Seligman’s tweet. “This is…wow,” Free Beacon writer Adam Kredo said. “The Pentagon just said they expect ISIS attacks to continue and are relying on the Taliban to help protect us. The Taliban are supposed to protect us?!” Outkick.com’s Clay Travis said. “This is insanity.”
CBS chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes called the bombings outside the airport in the Afghan capital of Kabul on Thursday – killing 12 U.S. service members and injuring 15 others – “the worst day” of Joe Biden’s presidency. Teeing up Cordes, CBS host Norah O’Donnell also called what happened on Thursday “the worst day of the Biden presidency.”
Insanity.. indeed.
20 years of insanity?
20 years of this war.. this sickening sickening war. This horrible awful disgusting war…
And this terrible withdrawal..
What a terrible, terrible day..
