Just a cultural observation of my own little coal region area ..
Besides the ‘local news’ playing up the storm, when I was shopping I did not see panic. I did not see anger.. I did not see people rushing the milk aisles in hopes of snatching the last half gallon. (And everyone avoided my favorite, Cashew Milk, anyway) … Instead I saw people who looked relieved that a storm was hitting. They looked somehow perfectly fine with it.
I think we all, collectively, hated life the past few months. We don’t know why, but we were stressed. Too much politics? Too much confusion about the world?
Either way, we all seemingly needed a day off. A day where the snow piles up and FORCES us to not have to drive. We have no excuse, we need to stay home.
That is what we needed. Guilt-free happy quiet…either with family, alone with Netflix, or just with a cold bottle of adult beverage of your choice next to the window as you slowly watch the snow pile up outside.
Sometimes we just need this..
