The Fairlane Village Fall

The past few months have featured so many wild weeks, it’s tough to figure out what news we missed from the week previous.

No different this final Friday of June–COVID-19 has surged so bad that Texas, California, and Florida have re-instituted lockdowns.. And locally, a major scandal is developing around County Commissioner George Halcovage and interesting escapades in clock towers high above the county seat–that story developing.

In other news, another mall is in dire distress.

The news seemed .. well.. kind of bright at the end of May. It was announced that stores would  begin slowly reopening after the coronavirus lockdowns of Spring.

Just weeks later, Kay Jewlers and Benignas Creek are going to be gone by the fall.

Rocco Arruzzo, the mall’s business operations manager, told the Pottsville REPUBLICAN HERALD Wednesday that Kay Jewelers and Benigna’s Creek Winery didn’t renew their lease…

We have documented the ‘death of the mall’ before in Frackville..

These new closings sound foreboding.

We don’t want to document another mall closing, another disaster for the area. We don’t want to see more brick and mortar go..

But the dominos continue to fall in ‘the hallway mall.’

Let’s hope things change..
