Lear, known for his colorful beliefs in UFOs, and his long running argument that planes did not exist on 9/11 and the event was an inside job, wrote that a secret source who swore him to secrecy over the Bell’s death in 2018 has now allowed him to reveal what he knows.
Lear wrote Saturday morning in a stunner:
A couple of days ago I got a call from a close friend who released me from my promise to keep everything I knew about Art Bells passing a secret. I don’t know exactly what has changed but my friend released me from the secret and so here goes.
My friend Art Bell committed suicide April 13, 2018. Art killed himself with an overdose of prescription pain killers which included oxycodone and hydrocodone, the sedative diazepam and the muscle-relaxant carisoprodol in his system, according to Clark County Coroner John Fudenberg.
Lear goes on to say that none of us will know what went through the talk show legend’s mind during these troubled days.. Some in the Bell fandom will find Lear’s revelation even more unbelievable since Bell had just had a young son months earlier that he and his wife named Arthur Jr.
Lear went on to write that Bell left a recording in his own voice that outlined 40 specific instructions about what he wanted done after this passing.
Lear said that Bell left well over $10 million in his estate.
On why the suicide? Lear speculates it could have been an affair ready to be revealed:
You and I will never know the final thoughts that drove Art to take his own life but I suspect it had something to do with an affair he was having that someone was threatening to expose.
Lear and Bell had a strong relationship in the earlier days of Coast to Coast AM, back when the night time talk show giant crept away from politics and current events to paranormal and strange tales.. Lear was famous for not only being from the Lear family, but also having beyond the norm beliefs.
However, in the Facebook post, Lear is realistic about how he and Bell did not have a strong friendship:
Please don’t ask me for any additional information because I don’t have any. Art and I weren’t all that close after 911 because he had trouble accepting it was an inside job.
But Art has always given me credit for starting him on the road the paranormal which led him to millions of listeners world wide.
