Thankful… or not. Here we come. I want to know what YOU have to be thankful for..?

America is giving thanks, today. I think. We are told to at least.. therefore I suppose most will.

And most may have something to give thanks for. Sure, millions are living below the poverty line, and millions more are teetering around it.. some are quickly leaving the middle class but not moving up, instead down. The 1% may be thankful this year. But the 99% are happy too that they still have the ability to speak–even though the untamed and Constitution-clueless cop will pepper spray them in the face, pregnant or not.

This Thanksgiving, this country is coming to grips with itself.. we are examining who we are and what we are.. we are debating what we should be.. Yes indeed, much to be thankful for but still a lot more to do to change.

Are we thankful for technology? Are we happy that our phones will be tracked at malls? Are you going out on black Friday to mercilessly shop and drop and get on top?

Right now, across this nation, turkeys are in ovens and pies are baked.. restaurants are busy readying tables.. and families are getting ready to cope with full homes. It’s going to be a wild ride..

But this morning, as I went to the grocery store for just a few last items, the roads were eerily empty. The store was quiet. It was strange to see hustle and bustle turn into the lull that Thanksgiving morning brings. Which is fine with me, I say.. it’s time we take a break and just relax.

Of course at 10pm tonight, stores’ doors will swing wide open and the clamoring masses of asses will thrust themselves into the shopping paradise of Chinese made goods and plastic. Are we thankful for that?
