THE AP REPORT:  Before the first snow fell, federal meteorologists realized there was a good chance the late-winter storm wasn’t going to produce giant snow totals in big Northeast cities as predicted. But they didn’t change their forecasts because they said they didn’t want to confuse the public. National Weather Service meteorologists held a conference call Monday afternoon about computer models that dramatically cut predicted snow amounts. They decided to stick with the super snowy warnings.

That is fine.. Great. The storm was a ‘bust’ for the big cities.. but travel outside the tiny universe of metropolitanhood and you’ll find about 30 inches of snow-blown snow. at the time I write this post, it’s still coming down outside my floor-level window. Half of civilization has vanished as I watch yardsticks worth of snow pile up..

Listen, I get it.. the snow ‘bust’ is evident in DC and Philly, NYC and parts of Jersey (though flooding is happening) …

I don’t think forecasters were wrong to NOT down the snow totals.. Listen, being over prepared is better than not at all.. As a matter of fact, the forecasts were mostly spot on despite the negative AP articles today,

I really wish someone from the AP and other big networks would get their heads out of their big Apples and actually look at a radar.. just a bit west of you exists a giant pile of 30+ inches of blizzard. Yes you missed it. But millions of other people did not.
