The slow death of the 20th century of shopping

It’s been a slow and long drop of store closings and bankruptcy declarations.. More brick and mortar about to become vacant in Pennsylvania:

Forty more Sears and Kmart stores will soon close.

Sears Holdings which filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last month has announced on its website on Thursday that 40 more stores will close. Sears Holdings owns both Sears and Kmart.

Among the 40 stores, four are in Pennsylvania. Those stores include:

  • Kmart – 7101 Roosevelt Blvd., Philadelphia
  • Kmart  – 1901 Lincoln Highway, North Versailles
  • Sears – 1665 State Hill Road, Wyomissing
  • Sears – 344 Stroud Mall, Stroudsburg

One last Christmas may occur.. The stores are expected to close in February. Liquidation sales at these stores are expected to begin late next week. These closings are in addition to the previously announced closure of 142 stores that are expected to be completed near the end of the year..

The sunshine days are quickly fading into black. Or red….
