The share price of Beyond Meat surged 163 percent on Thursday in the company’s first day of trading on Wall Street, signaling surprising interest in a new generation of companies that are creating plant-based alternatives to meat.

Beyond Meat, which makes vegetarian burgers and sausages, began trading at $25 a share on the Nasdaq stock exchange and ended the day at $65.75.

I can personally say I tried the Beyond Meat burger.. Prior to this grilled strange experience, I did not have ground meat in several years. It recalled the flavor, but recalled the reason I stopped was exactly due to the flavor..biting into a burger filled with over 500 cows just felt wrong. The Beyond Meat burger gave me a chillingly similar experience to meat itself–which perhaps is the biggest selling point. It feels, tastes, and seems just like a regular old hamburger. It even bleeds somewhat as you press down on it..Couple it with your favorite toppings, and you’d never know you’re eating a murky mixture of peas and other oddly named things.
