I had a deep conversation with someone about our strange news as of late.. or coronavirus headlines. It brought it home, and it made it personal.
He is a personal friend. And his mother died of COVID-19 this past week.
She had no funeral.
No viewing..
Nothing..
The grave site was devoid of emotion.. lonely.
The family was permitted to be at gravesite in Scranton, but without a guest list. Six feet apart for social distancing. With masks for protection.
Without a celebration of life for living.. Without a fair remembrance of who he was and what she lived for…
Just masks worn amid the eerie silence of a cloudy and dreary cold Pennsylvania spring day.
When my friend left the grave site, he saw about a dozen other very similar funerals taking place…
Could it be the same type of death due to this pandemic?
