The U.S. Coast Guard resumed its search early Saturday across Bahamian waters for a disabled cargo ship with 33 crewmembers, including 28 Americans, that lost contact during Hurricane Joaquin, which was moving away from the sprawling archipelago

Joaquin has strengthened significantly and continues to hover near the Bahamas on Thursday. This delay has altered the forecast track. Other weather systems impacting Joaquin will be in slightly different positions as a result.

This scenario, a EURO model projection, would be much better for lives and limbs along the east coast as opposed to the westward model of the GFS.. Days to go. Time will tell.. But early prognostications that stated Joaquin would be Sandy part 2 were fear porn and irresponsible..

This model for Hurricane Joaquin gives me pause. If this happens, it will be around Sunday/Monday.. this would mean intense winds and flooding rains.. Sandy happened in October as well.  No one in the Northeast wants another Sandy for the rest of our lives.
