Malls were first. Now standalone TOYS R US are closing down now..
What killed them? Some say the net. Some say Walmart. Some say Toys R Us themselves are to blame for not knowing what the ‘kids’ want or need.. what kids like.
Not sure if any CEO would have done it, but maybe the smartest move would be to let a group of kids loose in Toys R Us and see how long until they got bored.. frustrated..or angry at the set up. The awful setup. The 20th century style setup…
Toys ‘R’ Us entered bankruptcy in September and initially got a $3.1 billion loan to help turn the business around. But that influx of capital proved insufficient to overcome an increasingly competitive retail market.
Since the announcement in March that the toy store chain Toys ‘R’ Us would liquidate its U.S. assets after failing to find a buyer or restructure its debt, fans have been dreading the closure of the childhood favorite. And now know that day will be Friday..
And now? The toys are gone and US are finding new locations to buy them.

The newest generation of people alive maybe won’t care. It’s the 30 somethings that are seeing their childhood gone in smoke with this.. We need some consoling from the newer folks on earth. Tell us everything will be okay..

Party City has already announced plans to lease 50 empty Toys “R” Us locations this fall for use as Halloween and Christmas stores. The company doesn’t plan to sign long-term leases.
But some retailers are looking for permanent homes.
TJX parent company of TJ Maxx, HomeGoods and Marshalls, announced plans earlier this year to open 238 stores in 2018 on top of the some 4,000 stores already in operation.
