Portion of Interstate 95 collapses in Philly!

A tanker fire underneath Interstate 95 northbound in Philadelphia caused part of the highway to collapse.

All lanes were shut down during the event.

The fire broke out just after 6 am Sunday between Exit 32 for Academy Road and Exit 30 for Cottman Avenue in the Tacony section of the city.

Large plumes of smoke can be visibly seen coming from the accident site, and explosions sounds could be heard by witnesses and during live news coverage from Philadelphia affiliates.

Officials say the popping noises may be fuel lines underneath the road..

This appears to be a long duration situation that will create travel chaos for a foreseeable future, along with potential environmental impacts in the air and the Delaware River.
