Longtime Schuylkill County newspaper reporter and columnist John Usalis, known for his dedication to community journalism and his witty “Wandering Around” column, died Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill..

Usalis, who retired from the Republican Herald in January 2022, was well known particularly in northern Schuylkill County, where he began his 34-year career in journalism.”

We all saw it somewhere–functions.. Parades.. graduations. He was the constant. Sitting in dull court rooms, local ordinance meetings.. or your child’s forensics club event.
