Your last selfies

Thanks to artificial intelligence technology, we are able to now get art work, music, and lots more! But as exciting as it gets, it gets equally creepy.. questionable.. and we ponder if we have or will give technology too much power over us.

After all, who can’t escape that video of computer tech breaking a child’s finger during a chess match.. That’s TERMINATOR type stuff..

Earlier this year, DALL-E mini image generator got famous and started going viral.. People of the internet discovered the website’s ability to create weird and disturbing images but searching for anything.. Created in 2021, DALL-E is known as a transformer language model that can turn almost any idea into images.

DALL-E mini has since changed its name to Craiyon and is in the process of redirecting users to its new website Craiyon.com.. The name change came to avoid confusion with another AI called DALL-E that was created by OpenAI–OpenAI also does the unusual images thing..

HOW DOES THE AI SEARCH WORK?

“It receives both the text and the image as a single stream of data containing up to 1280 tokens and is trained using maximum likelihood to generate all of the tokens, one after another,” according to Open AI.

“This training procedure allows DALL·E to not only generate an image from scratch but also to regenerate any rectangular region of an existing image that extends to the bottom-right corner, in a way that is consistent with the text prompt.”

DALL-E was named after Pixar’s Wall-E, according to The Big Issue.

So essentially the AI website humans are going to is basing its creations on information humans have given it ..

Despite conspiracy theories and memes you’ve most likely seen predicting a disastrous election day in 2024 it’s just AI. It’s just using what it gets to give..

And on that note, it recently sure gave us something to remember..

AI’S END TIME

But back to DALL-E or now Craiyon: They sure made an interesting set of images lately..

A TIKTOK account named “Robot Overloards” promises “daily disturbing AI-generated images”. They are fulfilling their promise to viewers. They

Basically the account did what any of us can do: They searched for the “end of the world” and got some chilling images back–these look like AI has been watching enough end times movies and gracing its life with Pink Floyd’s THE WALL to create beauties like these:

Chilling.. Weird. Almost beautiful potential movie posters.

If AI bases its conception of things on what the human mind provides, what kind of fears are we placing into the artificial world?

AFTER THE LAST SELFIE

We decided to see what AI has done to the search term now that so many more are using the site and trying to get it to spit back weird images.

So we went to Craiyon.com again and searched for ‘the last selfie’ just to see what images we got back and if something has changed.

Our results are a bit altered since the last AI run.. And quite frankly no less scary, albeit a bit different:

And for some person edification, here’s the result when you search Coal Speaker. AI is taking it all quite literally, basically putting coal itself into speakers.

Oh, and also giving us that guy in the middle top row. Yea.. not sure there.

Enjoy, and when you have time, use the site to pass some time.
