The master of the universe:  Roger Sweet dead at 91

A few months ago, it was widely reported that Roger Sweet, one of the people who helped create the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe series in the 1980s, was battling dementia in a nursing home and had a GoFundMe set up to help with his medical costs.

Today, it is being widely reported that he has now passed away at the age of 91 from dementia. His wife, Marlene, was quoted in various sources saying he died peacefully.

Roger was one of the key figures behind the creation of the toy line and was also involved with bringing the cartoon to life, helping create a phenomenon that has lived on with fans ever since… and now with a new movie coming out in June of this year.

Hopefully, in some regard, he was able to know that his creation was going to become a movie in 2026… but dementia itself is cruel and awful.
Life goes in funny ways. Roger lived a long life, and he gave a lot of people amazing things that we would not have had without his creation.
May he rest in peace.

Here’s video from Powercon several years ago featuring Roger..
