THE REAL 2020 PROPHET

Ten years ago when we were all worried about the coming Mayan calendar’s end, a Russian-American scientist who specialized in population biology and devises theories theorized that 2012 was “bullshit.”  He said 2020 was the REAL year to worry about.

And now, in the middle of the most tumultuous year in generations, perhaps the call of bullshit a decade ago was more spot on than we knew.

Flu masks are not just a 2020 thing: Dr. Inches divided a conference in 1918, and a barber “very cheerfully” decided to wear a mask

Yes, people grew sick and tired of being sick and tired then as well.. And with the discomfort of a global pandemic, people still got sick of masks in 1919 too. 

In the coal region area, 3,273 residents of Schuylkill County would be counted among the dead.. In just a 2 day period, it was reported that 41 residents of Minersville died.. Gilberton had 51 die in just one set of row homes.. Schools, theaters, and businesses closed then as well .. They slowly began to reopen after this initial shock.. 

And all the while, masks were being pushed as mandatory apparel to continue life in the then ‘new normal’ of the post Spanish Flu pandemic..

The forgotten pandemic that put a president in a hospital

About a decade the Asian Flu of 1957, another strain was suddenly filling the world’s hospitals with patients.. This new pandemic was circling the nation just as 60s rebellion was.. just as Charles Manson’s ‘family’ was on a murderous path in Tinseltown.. just as the Vietnam War sliced the nation in half.. bras burned. Woodstock’s mud.. It would go on to kill over 100,000 Americans and even hospitalize an American president  ..  It was the dreaded Hong Kong Flu pandemic of 1968..
