Hall in the Cell: Magen pleads guilty to manslaughter

After all these years of waiting—and Megan Hall starring briefly in her own reality segment on TV—the accused murderer of Schuylkill county businessman Pat Murphy has pled guilty..

The news broke after documents from the Parish in New Orleans became available to the media.. several Schuylkill county news organizations were playing closer attention than those even in Louisiana..

Hall was 25 at the time of her original arrest. pled guilty to manslaughter charges Monday during a pre-trial conference. As part of her guilty plea, the original charge of 2nd Degree murder was amended to reflect the lower degree..

This came as Hall’s trial was scheduled to begin on July 25–just days from now.

According to initial media reports, Magen Hall was going to face up to 25 more years in prison as a result..

But now maybe much less..

According to reporting in the MORNING CALL, Hall, 28, was sentenced to 25 years in prison concurrent for all three charges, but the order says with “all but 10 years suspended,” meaning that she’ll only have to serve 10 years, said Timothy David Ray, chief communications officer for the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.

There are various reactions on social media, of course. And most likely this plea deal brings little relief to the friends and family of Pottsville’s Pat Murphy ..

It book ends a story that seemingly was never ending.

Hall now goes back to the jail that has already become her home since 2019 when the killing occurred ..
