The mystery TV head man

Strange tales coming from Henrico County Virginia..

A mysterious character wearing a fake TV set on his head spent a night carefully placing over 50 old TV sets on the porches of dozens of houses in the area..

People were waking up on Sunday and calling police to report not theft.. but the gift of an old television set..

Some people shared images from their smart door bells or house cameras of the man with the old TV mask..

TV-Santa-Claus2

People are labeling him the TV Santa Claus..

But these weird tales from 2019 are not the first time..

There are reports from local affiliates in the county that the same type of weird gift–TV sets on porches–was left on porches back in 2018..

Robyn Schorr told WTVR CBS 6 last year that she was leaving for work on Thursday, Aug. 23 when she spotted what she assumed was a package at her front door.

“I told my husband to get the package off the front door,” Schorr said.

Schorr’s husband instead found a Toshiba FST Black Stripe television dated February 1986 sitting outside of their front door.

Still from footage from Adrian Garner's home security camera shows a person leaving the TV on his porch, while wearing a TV-shaped mask over his head.

One witness who received the gift of an unwanted old TV told a local NBC affiliate:

“To me, it’s kind of funny,” said Michael Kroll. He had a set on his lawn, and originally thought perhaps his son was gathering stuff to bring to college.

He chalks up the stunt to perhaps kids being kids.

“I’m thinking it’s a senior prank, maybe senior year going in high school, or bored college kids before they go back to school trying to create a big buzz before they go back to college and say ‘Hey, look what I did.’”

Police believe it was more than one person involved in the stunt, saying that they rounded up all the TVs within an hour.

They will properly dispose of them with the county’s Solid Waste Division.

And now you know.
